Introduction

On a computer, Discord shows what you are playing or listening to under your name. That is Rich Presence. The Android Discord app doesn’t do that for other apps. Kizzy is a Rich Presence manager for Android: it sets that status from your phone.

What it can show

  • Presets. Ready-made presences, including a large set for Nintendo and Wii games (over 300 options, according to the project).
  • Custom configurations with your own text, images and links.
  • Status based on the app you are using or media that is playing, judging from the permissions it declares. See below.

It uses Material You theming, and the project describes it as easy to set up.

How it connects

Kizzy works with your Discord account, not through an official Discord feature for Android, so you sign in to Discord inside the app. Read the project’s documentation on what that involves before you do, and be aware that Discord’s terms restrict third-party access to user accounts.

IzzyOnDroid flags Kizzy NonFreeNet, which fits: the whole point is to talk to Discord, a proprietary service.

What stands out in the APK

  • No trackers.
  • Two special permissions you turn on yourself: usage access, which lets it see which app is in the foreground, and display over other apps.
  • It also declares media content control, which lets it read what is playing.
  • Notifications and storage ask first.

Installing it

  1. Install the APK and open it.
  2. Sign in to Discord in the app.
  3. Pick a preset or build your own presence, and grant usage access only if you want app-based status.
