Introduction
AntennaPod is a podcast app made by volunteers: free, open source and without ads. It doesn’t tie you to a platform. You subscribe to podcasts through their RSS feeds, which it can find for you in several podcast directories, and everything else happens on your phone.
Subscribing
- Search the Apple Podcasts, Podcast Index, gPodder.net and fyyd directories from inside the app.
- Or add a feed by its RSS or Atom link, or import a whole list from an OPML file.
- Password-protected feeds and episodes work too.
Listening
- Download episodes or stream them, and build a queue.
- Adjustable playback speed, chapter support and a remembered position for every episode.
- A sleep timer that you can extend by shaking the phone, and that can lower the volume as it ends.
- Controls from a home screen widget, the notification, and headphone or Bluetooth buttons.
Saving data and storage
AntennaPod gives you detailed control here. You decide when episodes download automatically: for which feeds, only on chosen Wi-Fi networks, never on mobile data, only while charging, or at set times. It can also delete played episodes automatically, keeping your favourites, and limit how many episodes it keeps cached.
Good to know
- Moving from another app? Most podcast apps can export your subscriptions as an OPML file, and AntennaPod imports it. You can also back up your subscriptions with gPodder.net sync or an OPML export.
- This copy is from F-Droid, which built it from source and signed it with its own key. It won’t install over a copy from Google Play (or the other way round) without uninstalling first, so export your subscriptions before switching.
- It runs on nearly any phone: the build has native code for 32-bit and 64-bit ARM and for x86, and needs Android 6.0 or later.

Common questions
Is this APK the official AntennaPod release?
It is F-Droid’s build rather than the developer’s own: F-Droid compiled AntennaPod 3.12.2 from the published source code and signed it with its own key. Its SHA-256 matches F-Droid’s signed index. Because the key is F-Droid’s, it won’t install over a copy from Google Play or GitHub without uninstalling first.
What Android version does AntennaPod need?
Android 6.0 or later (API level 23). Version 3.12.2 is built for Android 16 (target API 36). Runs on 64-bit and older 32-bit ARM phones.
Can AntennaPod access the internet?
Yes. The APK requests Android’s internet permission. In total it declares 11 permissions, and 1 of them needs your approval first.
Does AntennaPod contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 3.12.2 found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is AntennaPod open source?
Yes. AntennaPod is released under the GPL-3.0-only licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/AntennaPod/AntennaPod.
