Introduction
Exodus is the Android app of Exodus Privacy, a French non-profit that analyses Android apps for trackers. It lists the apps on your phone and shows, for each one, the trackers and permissions found in it.
This site uses the same knowledge: our own tracker scan matches code against Exodus Privacy’s tracker signatures.
How it works
- The app doesn’t analyse anything on your phone. It fetches the reports Exodus Privacy has already produced and shows them app by app.
- To do that, it sends the list of your installed apps to Exodus Privacy’s servers. The app says this contains no personal information.
- Exodus analyses apps from Google Play and F-Droid. Apps from anywhere else, or blocked by region or other restrictions, can’t be covered, and the app says so when a report is missing or is for a different version than yours.
How to read the results
Exodus Privacy finds trackers by static analysis: it compares the class names inside an APK with its list of trackers. As its FAQ puts it, that is not proof the trackers are active. The code being in the app doesn’t tell you when it runs or what it sends, the same caution we use on our own pages.
Good to know
- IzzyOnDroid flags it TetheredNet: the app is only useful with the Exodus service behind it.
- Version 3.3.2 is from July 2024. No release has followed since, but the reports themselves keep coming from Exodus Privacy’s platform.
- This file is the developer’s own build, delivered through IzzyOnDroid. Google Play has the same app from Exodus Privacy.
- The 7.3 MB file runs on ARM and x86, 32- and 64-bit, needs Android 6.0 or later, and declares five permissions.

Common questions
Is this APK the official Exodus release?
Yes. It is the developer’s own release of Exodus 3.3.2, byte for byte as IzzyOnDroid distributes it. Its SHA-256 matches IzzyOnDroid’s signed index, and it is signed with the certificate IzzyOnDroid records for the app (SHA-256 c9a406bd8e614c72bbdd242d56795f7a5ce13c0cf14bac22aec98030a71be486).
What Android version does Exodus need?
Android 6.0 or later (API level 23). Version 3.3.2 is built for Android 14 (target API 34). Runs on 64-bit and older 32-bit ARM phones.
Can Exodus access the internet?
Yes. The APK requests Android’s internet permission. In total it declares 5 permissions, and 1 of them needs your approval first.
Does Exodus contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 3.3.2 found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is Exodus open source?
Yes. Exodus is released under the GPL-3.0-only licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/Exodus-Privacy/exodus-android-app.
