LSPosed Modules: 9 Open-Source Xposed Modules Worth Installing (2026)
Nine open-source LSPosed and Xposed modules, from fixing old app installs to icon packs and freezing background apps. Xposed API confirmed in every APK, no trackers.
LSPosed is the Xposed framework most people use today. It runs on a rooted phone and lets small modules change how Android and individual apps behave, without touching the system partition. Each module is scoped: you choose which apps it can hook, and it does nothing anywhere else.
All nine modules here are open source and not on Google Play. We confirmed each one against the Xposed API inside its APK (the class we found is on each app’s page), and none contains tracker code.
Quick picks
- An old app won’t install on Android 14 or later: Disable Target API Block, or Install with Options without root.
- Apps can’t pick the Download or Android folder: NoStorageRestrict.
- Your icon pack stops at the home screen: Global Icon Pack.
- Samsung apps stopped working after rooting: KnoxPatch.
- A Xiaomi phone on HyperOS with Android 15 or newer: Pengeek.
- Background apps keep using CPU: Cirno, on a kernel with cgroup v2.
What you need for all of them
- An unlocked bootloader and root: Magisk, KernelSU or APatch. The root solutions comparison helps you choose.
- LSPosed, installed as a module for your root solution. The original LSPosed stopped at Android 14; on newer versions you need its maintained fork, Vector. See how to install LSPosed for which one to get and the Zygisk setup each root method needs.
- For three of the modules, a current LSPosed build. HideMockLocation, Global Icon Pack and Pengeek use the newer libxposed API, which older frameworks don’t load. The table shows which is which.
At a glance
| Module | What it fixes | Android | Size | Permissions | API |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disable Target API Block | Installing apps built for very old Android versions | 14+ | 14 KB | 0 | Classic |
| NoStorageRestrict | Picking the Download and Android folders | 11+ in practice | 25 KB | 0 | Classic |
| Free Notifications | Locked notification channels | 8.0+ | 20 KB | 0 | Classic |
| HideMockLocation | Apps that refuse mock locations | 8.0+ | 22 KB | 0 | libxposed |
| Global Icon Pack | Icon packs outside the launcher | 8.1+ | 2.2 MB | 6 | Both |
| Iconify | Quick Settings, notification and volume panel styling | 12+ | 33.8 MB | 14 | Classic (optional) |
| KnoxPatch | Samsung apps on rooted Galaxy phones | 9+ | 3.4 MB | 1 | Classic |
| Pengeek | Tweaks for Xiaomi HyperOS | 15+ | 2.7 MB | 16 | libxposed |
| Cirno | Background apps using CPU | 12+ | 20.4 MB | 2 | Classic |
Four of these modules declare no Android permissions at all. They work entirely through the hooks LSPosed gives them inside the apps you scope them to.
Fixes for things Android broke
- Disable Target API Block: Android 14 refuses to install apps targeting API levels below 23, and Android 15 and later below 24. This removes that block for every install method. Without root, Install with Options can do the same through Shizuku, one install at a time.
- NoStorageRestrict: since Android 11, the folder picker won’t let apps choose the Download folder or the Android folder. This brings them back.
- Free Notifications: makes locked notification channels editable again, such as the persistent “Developer options enabled” notice. Your changes stay even if you remove the module.
- HideMockLocation: hides an active mock location from the apps you scope it to.
Changing how Android looks
- Global Icon Pack: applies your icon pack in Settings, Recents and everywhere else a launcher can’t reach.
- Iconify: restyles Quick Settings, the notification shade and the volume panel on Pixel and AOSP ROMs. It is mostly an overlay app with optional Xposed features, which is why it is the largest here.
For one brand of phone
- KnoxPatch: gets Samsung apps working again on a rooted Galaxy phone. It pairs with a separate Magisk module for the parts Xposed can’t fix.
- Pengeek: the successor to CustoMIUIzer, a large collection of HyperOS tweaks for Xiaomi phones on Android 15 and newer.
Performance
- Cirno: freezes apps in the background so they use no CPU at all. It has no interface, works automatically, and needs a kernel with cgroup v2 (Linux 5.0 or newer). Anything that must keep running in the background has to be added as an exception in its config file.
A habit worth keeping
Scope each module to as few apps as it needs, and after a major system update, check for a new release before rebooting with modules active. That matters most for Pengeek and KnoxPatch, which hook manufacturer code that changes with every update.
