Introduction
Androoster is a collection of on/off tweaks for a rooted Android phone. It covers CPU, memory, kernel, I/O, network and graphics settings, grouped into categories so you can find and switch them one by one. The developer’s own summary of how to use it is the most useful advice here: there is no universal tweak. What speeds one device up costs battery on another. You are meant to change things gradually and keep what helps.
What it can change
From the project’s feature list:
- CPU: governor switching
- Memory: Low Memory Killer editor, runtime memory settings
- Kernel: an advanced kernel parameter editor, sleep mode and sleeper tuning
- Storage: FStrim, an I/O booster
- Network: network buffers, fast dormancy, hostname editor
- Graphics and UI: animation speed, JPEG quality, 270° rotation, 16-bit transparency, back-button light
- Debugging: an advanced debug monitor and GPS configuration
What you need
- A rooted phone.
- BusyBox installed. Many of its tweaks call BusyBox tools.
It doesn’t support Shizuku. Its tweaks write to kernel and system files that only root can touch.
What stands out in the APK
- No trackers, and no native code, which makes it a small 3.0 MB.
- Nine permissions. Only storage asks first. It also declares the old
ACCESS_SUPERUSERpermission that early root managers used, and a fingerprint permission. - Android 4.1 or newer. The very low minimum is a sign of how long the project has been around. Several tweaks on the list, such as 16-bit transparency and back-button lights, date from Android versions and hardware that are rare today.
Worth knowing
This build was released on IzzyOnDroid on March 14, 2025. The deeper tweaks (governor, LMK, kernel parameters) depend on what your kernel exposes. On a recent phone some may be missing or have no effect, and settings that do apply may be reset by the system or your kernel at boot. Change one thing at a time, and note what you changed, so you can put it back.
We had considered Androoster for our Shizuku apps list, but its APK contains no Shizuku library, so it needs full root.
