Introduction
Every Android screen is an activity, and many apps contain activities they never show in their menus: extra settings pages, test screens, shortcuts into the middle of an app. Activity Launcher lists the activities of your installed apps, opens them directly and turns them into home screen shortcuts.
What it does
- Browse installed apps and launch any exported activity.
- Create home screen shortcuts to activities.
- Version 2.4.1 added a plugin system for launching and creating shortcuts, a Quick Settings tile for your favourites, and sharing shortcuts as a link.
It doesn’t use root. Activities that apps keep private can’t be opened this way; for those, the project offers a separate Shizuku-based plugin.
A word of caution
The app says it at first launch: it gives access to features not normally visible to users, and some of them may not work as expected or may not be safe to use. Settings screens that a phone maker hid can change things you can’t easily undo.
About this file
- Activity Launcher comes in three versions: a free one with ads on Google Play, a paid Pro version, and an open-source version without ads or analytics. This is F-Droid’s build of the open-source version, with Google’s services, Firebase and the ad libraries stripped out.
- It is signed with F-Droid’s key, so it won’t update a copy from Google Play.
- The 3.4 MB file has no native code and declares five permissions.

Common questions
Is this APK the official Activity Launcher release?
It is F-Droid’s build rather than the developer’s own: F-Droid compiled Activity Launcher 2.4.1 from the published source code and signed it with its own key. Its SHA-256 matches F-Droid’s signed index. Because the key is F-Droid’s, it won’t install over a copy from Google Play or GitHub without uninstalling first.
What Android version does Activity Launcher need?
Android 4.1 or later (API level 16). Version 2.4.1 is built for Android 17 (target API 37). Pure Java/Kotlin, so it runs on any CPU.
Can Activity Launcher access the internet?
No. The APK doesn’t request Android’s internet permission, so the app can’t go online by itself. In total it declares 5 permissions, and none of them needs your approval first.
Does Activity Launcher contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 2.4.1 found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is Activity Launcher open source?
Yes. Activity Launcher is released under the ISC licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/butzist/ActivityLauncher.
