Battleship

Battleship is a small open-source implementation of the grid-based naval game. It is strictly one player against the device: there is no online matchmaking, account or pass-and-play two-player mode.

You place a carrier, battleship, cruiser, submarine and destroyer on a 10×10 grid by choosing a cell and orientation, or deploy the full fleet randomly. The AI uses a hunt/target approach with checkerboard parity, then follows hits rather than firing entirely at random. We inspected that implementation but did not play enough complete matches to rate its difficulty.

Super weapons and career progress

The basic turn remains one shot at a hidden grid. Sinking a particular enemy ship unlocks its associated one-use super weapon for the match, such as an area bombardment, cross-pattern attack or the five-cell straight-line Sonar Sweep. Only the player receives these abilities; the AI continues with single shots. They are gameplay rewards, not paid items.

Career statistics persist between app launches. The current source defines 33 medals in four rarity tiers and eight ranks, from Cadet through Fleet Admiral. Audio is generated at runtime rather than bundled as music or effect files. Vibration is the only user-facing permission.

The app stores progress locally with Android preferences. Its privacy notice also points out that Android backup may copy those preferences when system backup is enabled. There is no internet permission, tracking SDK, ad library or account code in the measured package.

About this file

Version 1.0.13, build 1000013, is the developer’s own Apache-2.0 release APK. F-Droid rebuilds it from source, confirms that the result matches and publishes the same developer-signed file; the F-Droid and upstream copies can therefore update one another. The release changes description and privacy text only; gameplay is unchanged. The 1.3 MB APK needs Android 7.0 or later and includes native libraries for 32- and 64-bit ARM and x86. Its SHA-256 is 59055d1dd83f08d3d0914754eb2d47b7565a1c2eec6e43d5a4ae23920b584798, matching F-Droid’s signed index and the upstream release.

CPU types in this build: arm64-v8a (64-bit ARM, almost every phone since 2017); armeabi-v7a (32-bit ARM, older and budget phones); x86 (32-bit Intel, emulators); x86_64 (64-bit Intel, emulators and Chromebooks).
