Introduction
2048 Open Fun Game keeps the familiar rule: swipe the board, combine equal tiles and build the highest value you can. It adds tools for studying and revisiting a game rather than ending the record when you close the app.
Every move can be stepped backward and forward with animation. A retry counter records when you go back and try a different continuation, so two high scores can be compared with some indication of how much rewriting was used. You can also bookmark an interesting position and return to it later.
Boards, AI and replay
The classic 4×4 board remains available, while the current app lets you select sizes from 3×3 through 8×8. Portrait and landscape layouts are separate, and light, dark or system themes are available.
AI mode can play the board itself. You can choose among the included algorithms, adjust playback speed, pause the AI and continue manually. This is useful for comparing strategies, not proof that an algorithm always finds the best move. Watch mode replays a saved game forward or backward and can stop at a position where you take control.
Recent games keep their moves, bookmarks, score and duration in local history. A game can also be shared as a file and loaded on another device. Android’s system backup may copy app data according to the phone’s backup settings, but the app itself has no internet permission, account, ads or network service.

Common questions
Is this APK the official 2048 Open Fun Game release?
It is F-Droid’s build rather than the developer’s own: F-Droid compiled 2048 Open Fun Game 1.16.2 from the published source code and signed it with its own key. Its SHA-256 matches F-Droid’s signed index. Because the key is F-Droid’s, it won’t install over a copy from Google Play or GitHub without uninstalling first.
What Android version does 2048 Open Fun Game need?
Android 7.0 or later (API level 24). Version 1.16.2 is built for Android 17 (target API 37). Runs on 64-bit and older 32-bit ARM phones.
Can 2048 Open Fun Game access the internet?
No. The APK doesn’t request Android’s internet permission, so the app can’t go online by itself. In total it declares 1 permission, and none of them needs your approval first.
Does 2048 Open Fun Game contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 1.16.2 found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is 2048 Open Fun Game open source?
Yes. 2048 Open Fun Game is released under the Apache-2.0 licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/andstatus/game2048.
Is this the original 2048 app?
No. It is an open-source Android implementation called 2048 Open Fun Game, adding AI, history, replays and different board sizes to the familiar rules.
Does the AI send moves to a server?
No. The measured manifest has no internet permission. The AI algorithms, game state, history and replay all run locally.
Can I continue a game after using undo?
Yes. Undo and redo are unlimited for the stored move history. Making a new move after going back creates a new continuation and increments the retry counter.
