Introduction
One Player is a native Android music and video player written in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It scans local audio and video, lets you browse folders or files, creates playlists and remembers a playback bookmark. Video controls include horizontal seeking, separate vertical swipes for brightness and volume, playback speed, repeat, shuffle and a control lock.
It also handles audio and subtitle track selection, background playback, an equalizer and a sleep timer. Subtitles listed by the project include SRT, SSA/ASS, TTML and WebVTT; the README notes that SSA/ASS styling is not complete.
What the FOSS build changes
The project has several product flavours. The APK here is the community flavour, identified by the -foss version suffix. Its build selects no-op replacements for Firebase analytics, app-market integration and billing. That means no ads, telemetry backend or in-app purchases from those components.
There is a trade-off. The project defines an on-demand codec feature module, but the community flavour’s app-market stub reports feature installation as failed. Its billing stub also returns no purchases and rejects new ones, so Tag Editor Pro features such as lyrics editing remain locked. This standalone APK therefore should not be treated as carrying every optional codec or paid feature that a Play-distributed bundle could provide. Without the FFmpeg module, AC-3, DTS and TrueHD audio support depends on the device.
The app asks for audio/video media access so it can build its library. It also has internet and network-state permissions because Network Link (Beta) sends a HEAD request to a supplied URL for its title and content type, then opens it as a normal remote media file. This APK does not contain Media3’s HLS, DASH or RTSP playback modules. Its interface can additionally fetch downloadable fonts through Google Play services, and the About screen loads an icon from play-lh.googleusercontent.com. A local file does not have to go online merely because these paths exist.
About this file
Version 1.7.7-foss, build 47, is the latest developer-signed package in IzzyOnDroid’s verified index. Common questions
Is this APK the official One Player release?
Yes. It is the developer’s own release of One Player 1.7.7-foss, byte for byte as IzzyOnDroid distributes it. Its SHA-256 matches IzzyOnDroid’s signed index, and it is signed with the certificate IzzyOnDroid records for the app (SHA-256 0c2d5027e33cd5db94b8f2ad564778e239c82892b05167d031b8ae8668d80466).
What Android version does One Player need?
Android 9 or later (API level 28). Version 1.7.7-foss is built for Android 17 (target API 37). Runs on 64-bit and older 32-bit ARM phones.
Can One Player access the internet?
Yes. The APK requests Android’s internet permission. In total it declares 11 permissions, and 5 of them need your approval first.
Does One Player contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 1.7.7-foss found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is One Player open source?
Yes. One Player is released under the Apache-2.0 licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/googol-apps/OnePlayer.
Does this FOSS build contain ads or Firebase analytics?
No. The community flavour selects stub implementations for analytics, app-market and billing code. The analytics stub only writes a local log message and has no telemetry backend.
Does One Player play every format in its store description?
Not necessarily. The community build cannot install the optional codec module, and its stub billing keeps Tag Editor Pro and other paid features locked. AC-3, DTS and TrueHD support without that module depends on the device, so judge format support on the actual phone and file.
Why does an offline player have internet permission?
The Network Link (Beta) feature sends a HEAD request to a media URL to read its title and type, then treats it as a normal remote file. This build does not include Media3’s HLS, DASH or RTSP modules. Local playback does not need a connection.
