Introduction
Edge Seek turns the edges of your screen into sliders. Run a finger up or down the left or right edge and the volume or brightness follows, with no buttons and no notification shade. No root is needed.
What it does
- Volume and brightness by sliding along the screen edges.
- Each edge is configured separately, so you can put brightness on one side and volume on the other, or leave an edge alone.
- Dimmer mode takes brightness below the system minimum. That is useful at night on phones whose lowest setting is still too bright.
What stands out in the APK
- No trackers.
- Two special permissions, and both are needed for what the app does.
- Display over other apps lets the invisible edge strips sit on top of whatever is on screen.
- Modify system settings lets it change brightness. You switch both on yourself in Settings. There are no runtime prompts, so the app never asks for contacts, location or storage.
- It can start at boot and can ask to be exempted from battery optimisation, so the edges keep working after a restart and aren’t killed in the background.
Installing it
- Install the APK and open it.
- Grant display over other apps and modify system settings when it sends you to Settings.
- Set up each edge and choose what it controls.
- If the edges stop working after a while, exempt Edge Seek from battery optimisation. Some manufacturers kill background apps aggressively.
Worth knowing
This build is 0.3-pre.7, a pre-release. The version number is honest about that. An edge that listens for slides can compete with other edge gestures, such as swipe-back navigation. If the two clash, turn that edge off and use the other one.

Common questions
Is this APK the official Edge Seek release?
Yes. It is the developer’s own release of Edge Seek 0.3-pre.7, byte for byte as IzzyOnDroid distributes it. Its SHA-256 matches IzzyOnDroid’s signed index, and it is signed with the certificate IzzyOnDroid records for the app (SHA-256 fdfab44ae3e4cad95ebf96cd6132c72c7cb1903216ac67f928fb52d5d7df6347).
What Android version does Edge Seek need?
Android 7.0 or later (API level 24). Version 0.3-pre.7 is built for Android 16 (target API 36). Runs on 64-bit and older 32-bit ARM phones.
Can Edge Seek access the internet?
No. The APK doesn’t request Android’s internet permission, so the app can’t go online by itself. In total it declares 9 permissions, and none of them needs your approval first.
Does Edge Seek contain trackers?
No known trackers: our scan of version 0.3-pre.7 found no code matching the Exodus Privacy tracker signatures. The scan covers known tracker libraries; it doesn’t show what data the app itself sends.
Is Edge Seek open source?
Yes. Edge Seek is released under the Apache-2.0 licence, and its source code is published at https://github.com/LSafer/edgeseek.
