Introduction
Termux:Styling is a menu of looks for Termux. The build we host contains 114 color schemes and 26 fonts; we counted them inside the APK. Among the schemes are well-known ones such as Dracula, Nord, Gruvbox, Solarized and One Dark, and the fonts include programming favourites such as Fira Code, Cascadia Code and DejaVu Sans Mono.
How to use it
- Install it from the same source as your Termux.
- In Termux, long-press anywhere on the terminal, tap More…, then Style.
- Pick Choose color or Choose font.
Your choice is written into Termux’s own settings folder, as ~/.termux/colors.properties and ~/.termux/font.ttf. So the app is optional: the Termux wiki points out that if you set those files up by hand, you don’t need Termux:Styling at all.
Good to know
- It’s big for a settings menu, and nearly all of it is fonts: they account for 32.8 of its 32.9 MB.
- It declares no permissions at all.
- Google Play lists an app called Termux:Style under the same package name. It belongs to the separate Google Play version of Termux and is signed with a different key, so it doesn’t work with Termux from F-Droid, and one can’t update the other. Is this APK the official Termux:Styling release?
It is F-Droid’s build rather than the developer’s own: F-Droid compiled Termux:Styling 0.32.1 from the published source code and signed it with its own key. Its SHA-256 matches F-Droid’s signed index. Because the key is F-Droid’s, it won’t install over a copy from Google Play or GitHub without uninstalling first.
What Android version does Termux:Styling need?
Android 5.0 or later (API level 21). Version 0.32.1 is built for Android 9 (target API 28). Pure Java/Kotlin, so it runs on any CPU.
Can Termux:Styling access the internet?
