Introduction

Bloomee is an open-source music player, built with Flutter and Rust, for Android, Windows and Linux. It plays the music already on your phone and online streams in one library. The current version gets its online sources from a plugin system, so what you can stream depends on the plugins you install. The developer describes it as experimental.

What it does

From the project’s README:

  • Local music and online streams side by side.
  • Plugins (.bex files) for online sources, which update themselves.
  • Smart replace: if a track in a playlist stops working, it looks for a working stream of the same song.
  • Time-synced lyrics with manual offset adjustment.
  • An equalizer and crossfade between tracks.
  • Last.fm scrobbling (it keeps offline plays and sends them later) and Discord Rich Presence.
  • Charts from the installed plugins, and recommendations based on Last.fm or plugins.
  • Backup and restore of your library and settings as JSON or M3U.

Watch out for fake Bloomee sites

The developer warns that, because the app is popular, several unofficial websites claim to be the official Bloomee site and may hand out modified APKs or malware. The developer lists only two official websites:

  • bloomeex.org
  • hemantkarya.github.io/BloomeeTunes

We aren’t either of those, and we don’t claim to be. What we host is the developer’s own release as published through IzzyOnDroid, unmodified: the file matches the hash in IzzyOnDroid’s signed index, and the signing certificate is the one listed there. You can compare the Signer SHA-256 under More Information with the certificate of any other copy you have.

Good to know

  • This build contains native code for 64-bit ARM only and needs Android 7.0 or later.
  • IzzyOnDroid’s description of the app still names YouTube and JioSaavn as sources. The project’s current README describes online sources as coming from plugins.
